I enlisted the kids to help with laundry today, their task, to match up their socks & toss them in their baskets which would later be carried to their rooms & put away. Conner's first attempt was interesting but he quickly got the hang of it with Brie's help. Halfway through we hear from Conner, "Uhhhhhh Mom, what happened to this sock?" I turn expecting to see him holding up one with a hole in it. Not so much, he had in one hand, a very large sock and in the other a tiny one. Both had the same "Gap" stamp on the bottom but one was a newer larger size and the other an older smaller one. He had utter amazement stamped on his face & in his voice as his mind couldn't believe what I could have possibly done to shrink his sock... It was adorable to see his mind jump to conclusions about Mommy having magic abilities to shrink socks or rather that the washer & dryer could be the culprits! We all shared a long breathless bought of laughter together, who knew having the kids help fold laundry would be so fun......

Have we created a monster?????
Prior to our arrivals home from work Friday, our darling daughter decided to take it upon herself to empty the dry goods closet, organize, toss or combine where necessary, wipe it clean, and then restock it in a way that made more sense to her............ Um..... while that makes us extremely proud that she did it without expecting anything in return, we have to wonder if her excitement to organize might just be a bad thing? First we thought it was awesome she keeps our "junk" drawer neatly organized but now it's spilling forth in other areas. Is this normal for a preteen 11 year old to choose such a project to tackle on a Friday night instead of plopping herself down in front of the TV while she awaits our return? In the end we feel it'll be one of her enormously endearing amazing qualities that we'll cherish and just enjoy having the help! She's pretty amazing, just saying....

Star Student
For the month of January Conner was chosen as the Star Student, he just couldn't wait for it to be his turn and spent much of the winter break pondering how much fun it was going to be. He was honored on the first day back from Christmas break, got to wear his crown all day, was able to have Daddy come & read with him his favorite book to the class, and best of all show the class some of his favorite things....

Homecoming Week Formal Day Winners 2011
Finally have a clip of the "Formal Day" winners from this year's Homecoming Week, Brienna and the nicely dressed gentleman next to her represented the 6th grade class. No surprise Brie loves to dress up and having won a second year in a row wasn't a shocker either. However, I think her reign might end next year as we've already heard "see Mommy, some girls even wear wedding dresses" and this Mommy is drawing the line there.

How Does Your Mommy Make a Turkey?
That's the question that was posed to Conner's class, our Kindergartner's reply was:
"Oven, she turns the burner to 5 degrees for 5 to 10 seconds and then she takes it out and puts it on the table and we eat it!"

He's all business!
Will never get old watching this little guy, although several Moms have warned me that the first time you see your little guy twisted like a pretzel in pain, you won't think it's fun anymore! Until then here is Conner at his second night still loving every second of it!
Here is a little clip too!

Wrestling 101
Monday nights will never be the same for our little monkey boy, Conner has had his first introduction to the world of wrestling! So while Brie & Mommy ran on the track, Daddy & Conner were downstairs in the wrestling room. Daddy signed him up months ago & had many long conversations to prepare him, some went like this: "on some occasions you might get smacked down hard & it will hurt" "you aren't going to win all the time & might loose more than you win, it's okay, you're learning" "there will probably be a lot of kids there bigger than you, so being quick is important" "end up on your back get up & wiggle outta there" all kinds of advice. Not sure why we were so worried he'd end up a crying mess, because he most certainly did not!
Conner's buds Nick, Antone, Carson, and many others from preschool/kindergarten were also there. Imagine a wrestling room with a huge mat as a floor with tons of circles, the walls are lined with parents while each circle is occupied by pair of little kindergarten boys super eager to expel enormous amounts of energy by finally taking each other down. I guess at that age it's what every boy wants to do at the play ground in school but is forbidden to. Here they get to do it & not get in trouble! That just might give you a glimpse of how excited these little guys were to be there! The high school wrestlers & coach did an awesome job at showing what it's all about - yep, Conner is hooked! Never saw him so attentive! Should have seen this coming, he's small but quick, he can scamper up a wall if he was allowed to. Remember the basketball pole episode at LBBC anyone, the clues were right there & blaringly obvious!
Conner paired up with his buddy Antone and when instructions for different drills ensued Conner obediently followed, while his buddy on the other hand had only one goal, take down as many fellow wrestlers as he could! No one was safe, if you were upright, you were a target. At first it was hysterical to watch, each time he took out Conner they both fell into a heap laughing, glad it wasn't tears. Daddy was about ready to tackle little Antone himself by the end of the session however, I guess maybe someone should suggest football for that little man, cuz he's mastered tackling!
Walking out with Nick & his Mom, we both marvelled at the two boys jumping all over the place, we were quite puzzled by the fact that they weren't completely wore out!
Conner in the car on the way home spoke up quite loudly "Mommy, I'm just SWEATING!" like he was surprised somehow by this? After a bath & being properly tucked in to bed our little wrestling machine didn't even make it to the first page of the book, out cold!
Update - the next morning at breakfast he was crestfallen to hear that he has to wait 6 more days till he gets to go again, one night a week just isn't enough apparently! So amazing to see the excitement he has for this, will post photos & short clip next time! Daddy is very excited to take you on this new adventure and we're all going to be there on the sidelines to cheer you on!!!!!
